Southwest Florida's red tide continues to extend from southern Pinellas to northern Sarasota counties. Coastal concentrations were low for the most part, but one sample in Sarasota Bay taken early in the week was medium. Bloom concentrations also continue in the Florida Keys, but they are patchy. The highest concentrations were from Cudjoe Key to Key West.

December Fishing Report

With water temperatures dropping, Black Grouper and Mangrove snapper fishing has been very good within the 10-15 mile range when weather conditions allow you to get offshore. Frozen sardines and live pinfish have been the bait of choice. In the bay, sheepshead and pompano have been very consistent along with redfish up to 25 inches on live shrimp and artificial lures.
