Jury indicates it's near deadlock in case of hijacking, slaying aboard Florida fishing yacht (Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune)
MIAMI - A federal jury in Miami indicated Monday it was nearing a deadlock over whether a second man should be convicted in the shooting deaths of four people last year aboard the "Joe Cool" fishing charter boat. The judge told jurors to continue deliberating the next day.

Henry Caimotto of the Snook Nook in Jensen Beach reported wall to wall finger mullet along the beaches and in the river. Along the beaches, there are bluefish from 3 to 5 pounds, with big whiting and a few pompano. Offshore, there are lots of sailfish along the bluewater edge and dolphins in the Gulf Stream. In 60 feet of water, the snapper are biting on sardines over the reefs.

My standard fly-fishing tackle for chinook salmon and steelhead used to be a nine-foot, eight-weight rod with a traditional floating line. But for pink salmon I've sometimes used a six-weight trout rod for fish that run two to five pounds. They're considerably stronger than trout of the same size, so using a six-weight really revs up the sporting factor with these fish.
