Captain Chris Johnson of SeaSquared charters out of Marathon reported Spanish mackerel are big and thick in eight to 12 feet of water in Florida Bay. Anglers Clifford Kemp and Larry Harris from North Carolina found that out when they landed more than 20 large Spanish mackerel while fishing with live shrimp.

Captain Jimmy David on the charter boat L&H out of Crandon Park Marina reported a hot sailfish bite is taking place offshore of Key Biscayne in 110 to 160 feet of water. Sailfish were feeding on ballyhoo and threadfin herring on a recent day charter on the L&H with north winds. The Diaz family released 22 sailfish and landed 25 dolphins, one wahoo, grouper and kingfish.
