NOAA announces an emergency rule to protect right whales (Outer Banks Sentinel)
NOAA Fisheries Service has announced a temporary emergency rule prohibiting gillnet fishing and possession of gillnets in Atlantic Ocean waters off South Carolina, Georgia and northeast Florida during right whale calving season from Nov. 15, through April 15.

Three South Florida fishermen had to be rescued at sea early Wednesday morning after their boat began taking on water in rough seas off the coast of Haulover Marina but officials from U.S. Customs aren t so sure they were really fishing.
